Story and planning for your week

A bricole was a small little farm in Brie. It was a traditional house accommodating farming workers and sometimes animals.

Our bricole used to contain a pen for pigs. One of the roof tiles read "1875" so we can guess it is the date of making of the tile. But the house may even be older.

The lodging part was upstairs with a fireplace in the common room.

When we decided to restore the house, there was a lot to do... There was no water and electricity in the dwelling and only beaten earth floors.

You will be able to find a lot of information on "bricoles" in Maisons de Brie et d'Ile-de-France by Michel Vincent.
